AWN Latest News
Welcome to all the new members that have
sign up in the last few weeks, about 50
in total. Sorry about taking so long to
process you guys but we have been extremely
busy.
Firstly, let me start by welcoming our
new sponsors australia.internet.com
- Australia's Internet Industry Portal.
Their community, constituted of all the
key Australian professionals driving the
development of the Internet as a channel
for global business. They create value
for their members in three ways - daily
editorial, monthly networking events,
and quarterly executive training days.
Have a look through their site and join
in, there is allot of valuable information
that could benefit your business.
As you may have seen, our 'earn extra
income' section has changed and will now
be replaced with a membership card system.
We will be sending out cards in the next
few weeks (for FREE!) and you will be
entitled to some great discounts for just
being a part of the community.
We will be changing our newsletters to
weekly ones very soon. The main reason
for this is to introduce all the new businesses
that will be offering discounts to you.
After some ringing around to the people
that have ask for quotes and from the
emails we have received, it seems that
we would be close to the referring $200,000
in contracts during the last 8 months.
If you have received work that has been
referred from our site, please let us
know. We will keep the information confidential
and it help us know how our marketing
campaigns are going, as it's very hard
to track.
This week we are launching our new
web hosting resellers program. This
is set-up for our members only and provides
something the no-one else does. Support
your clients!! This enables you to
get on with web design rather than support
and add value to your business. To find
out more check out article one.
One last thing before I go. We have been
receiving allot of emails from people
that have lost their password and when
they use the link to retrieve it they
get nothing back. The reason for this
is because they have not used the email
address they signed up with, so if this
happens to you, use the keyword search
to find yourself and use the email address
that you gave us originally.
That's pretty much it from us. Til next
time. Have a good one.
Regards,
Paul Cotton

IMPORTANT: It has come to our
attention from speaking to people that
are asking for quotes, some designers
have not been responding. Remember, these
are qualified leads and the people
asking for quotes have taken the time
to look through your details. Most of
them only selected 4-10 designers and
they are only getting a couple of responses.
So don't let these opportunities pass,
it's your foot in the front door and what
you do with it is up to you.

2. Australian Spam
Have you ever received SPAM emails from
Business Seminars Australia? The one with
the kangaroo waving the Austalian flag?
Well, we have, about 10 a week to be
exact. While SPAM in itself is not illegal
(yet) a growing movement to expose Bulk
Email companies operating in Australia
is growing.
Thanks to some resourceful and attentive
AWN members, the Australian Company that
has been sending these (and other) bulk
emails has been identified. We just thought
we'd share: www.t3direct.com.au Their
web hosting provider is WebCentral.
Typical for bulk SPAMMERS, the T3 Group
Pty Ltd hides behind false outgoing email
addresses, relay servers and a return
drop boxes at China.com. Why - because
they know how much people HATE THEM and
wish to remain hidden... and it's businesses
like this that are putting a strain on
networks and managers
that have to pay for the bandwidth wasted
by SPAM on a daily basis.
Did you know that the Europe Union outlawed
spam in December 2001? Would you like
to see similar laws for Australia?
You can GET ACTIVE by writing an email
to you Local or Australian Government
official and express your views on what
types of changes and laws you would like
to see put in place. GET ACTIVE and have
your say - without it the government will
do nothing and the problem will only get
worse...
A good starting point for a push for
law reform regarding SPAM is www.caube.org.au
While it is important to differentiate
between Bulk Emailers who use "email
harvesting" software and those who
make legitimate marketing approaches through
"hand contacting" a business
via their web site, new legislation needs
to be introduced. It really is a "grey
area" - but with more involvement
from individuals,
business and marketing representatives
a distinct line can be drawn.
As long as Australian companies like
www.t3direct.com.au are allowed to use
"email harvesters" and "bulk
unsolicited email" the problem can
only get worse...

Search Engine Optimisation: The Benefits
for your Clients
With Google the latest in a long line

This seminar will focus on developments

Media
Gavin Appel, General Manager, Sinewave

Testimonials
"I used Webdesigners recently after
reading an article about them in the Sydney
Morning Herald. I wanted a small website
designed for my Sydney Harbour cruise
business. I found the webdesigners site
easy to navigate, the 'request for a quote'
area user friendly, and I had received
my first quote within 24 hours. Thanks
for the great service."
